Penguins

This post contains a few things...not just a blatant ad for my penguin packet :)  So please, read through.

The blatant ad: I uploaded my penguin unit on Sunday night and then I thought of a few more things to add to it.  So if you have already purchased and downloaded, please download again!  If you have not purchased, please check out the product on TpT!  I had a lot of fun making it.  It took me a long time!  It is 124 pages and Common Core Aligned.  As always feel free to pin!

FREEBIES
For a freebie from the packet, click here to check out Sunday's post!   For my original penguin art and math project click here.  I have evolved this project from the freebie version for this packet.  There are now three versions, essential questions, "kid friendly" font, and various student directions.

My Favorite Penguin Clips and Movies

LaLa a pet King Penguin in Japan.  I cannot believe how smart he is!

Penguin Life of Crime!  This is too cute and too funny.

The ever-fabulous Deanna Jump  has some awesome penguin posts that I suggest you check out!  She posted this clip about the transfer of an egg from an emperor penguin mother to father:

I love the movie The March of the Penguins.  It is a documentary but it is appropriate for first grade.  My students last year loved it.  And who doesn't love Happy Feet?  Soo cute.  This DVD double pack is only around $10 on Amazon!  Click the picture below to check it out.

Thank you for reading until the end.  I will pick a random number from the first 15 people to comment to win my packet.

The random winner is Cathy!  Thanks for all who commented.  I love comments.

  29. Oh my gosh! Having a pet penguin would be a dream of mine come true! Probably not legal here though... I also watch March of the Penguins and Happy Feet at the end of our unit. My kids love it! And...so do I :) Thanks for the other clips!

  30. Thanks for the cool clips. I love penguins and I am trying to integrate more youtube into lessons. The kids respond so well to video clips. If you want some cool live video feed, the California Academy of Sciences (in SF) www.calacademy.org has live webcams of their penguins. Look under the Discover Science link to Live Webcams. The kids go crazy for it. Gotta love the internet and technology! We are lucky enough to go as a field trip so it gets them excited about learning.
